All the members of this group have been a joy to work with; bringing laughter, friendship and positive thoughts and attitudes to this project. Carol:
“I am learning my lines. I feel a little bit confident but not enough just yet. We were in the studio yesterday rehearsing, and i did ok with my lines until i get to the second page.”

Pauline:
“I am so anxious, i do not feel entirely comfortable with my film and my signing. The film is kind of stilted, quite slow and not exactly flowing the way i would like it to.”

Tommy:
“I am a bit haprehensive in a ‘in a good way’ not too worried about ruining the show, i know we will not, but what we will do is, enjoy ourselves because we always do! And if thats the case it’s got to be a WINNER!”

Heather:

“I am not a public speaker but i do things like this for therapeutic reasons, it helps build my confidence to enable me to speak in front of large groups of people. I love this idea of filming something, it helps capture moments in time that will never happen again. I think it’s a very special thing.”

Here at the In Focus group, rehearsals are in session for the group at the Belle Vale’s Millennium Centre first film. The group have proven that it is never too late to try new things. After familiarising themselves with recording equipment, editing software and even online blogging the group are making a statement that nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it.

The Belle Vale Prefab Project was set up to document our life and times in the Belle Vale prefabs from 1947-1970. Two books have been produced and two calendars full of wonderful pictures and memories of our special life growing up in Belle Vale. The Prefabs were created to house forces from the second World War and to meet the severe housing shortage, to provide homes for those in cramped housing conditions and those affected by the Blitz.

You are invited to the meetings of the Belle Vale Prefab Project at the Lee Valley Millennium Centre Chillwall Valley Road at 7pm of the last Thursday in the month.

Hundreds of friends have already linked into the project since it was set up five years ago, people are in contact via the internet from all over the world who lived in Belle Vale in the prefabs from 1947-1970. Dozens of old friends from the prefabs meet every month with new people attending each meeting.

The 2010 calendar  and second book are available to buy at the Post Office on Belle Vale Road. The first book now out of print can be borrowed from Liverpool libraries.

Cinefilm wanted

We are looking for film footage of the 40′s 50′s and 60′s preferably of the prefabs or linked environments. We will ultimately collate all the bits of cinefilm we collect and include it within a film of photo’s and interviews of our prefab days.

I was asked to join this group because i mentioned i still had my Cavern membership card, which was the most famous club in Liverpool in the 60′s because of the Beattles and other famous Liverpool groups. It all started from there and we are now making a film about what we have become as we have got older and what we have done in our lives. It is still ongoing and we are enjoying ourselves.

We have got 3 more weeks to go, we have been at it since September 09 and we are due to finish in March where it will then be available on Youtube, I hope you all watch it.

New fun exercise classes for all ages at the Millennium Centre 9th March- 9.30am-10.30am Tuesday mornings for ONLY £1

The Millennium Centre on Childwall valley will soon host a new healthy lifestyle class this March. The class offers members of the public to develop their own personal health plans, with a personal healthy trainer, check their BMI, and information on diet and nutrition.
